Waiting In Line

Long Line at a Bus Stop in Avenida de Mayo in Buenos Aires, Argentina
What are these people waiting for? All these ladies and gentlemen are standing patiently in line at the bus station waiting to get on the bus home. As a rule, be prepared for a crush of people around rush hour. Then it is most likely you will see insanely long lines for a colectivo, especially in the city center. In general you don't need to expect such huge queues but some routes seem to be more frequented than others. Riding the bus in Buenos Aires, however, is interesting and a great possibility to mingle with locals.

For some reason this queue surprises me. I guess I thought with all the public transportation, finding a bus would be a simple proposition.

It is interesting, too, that they are lined up so neatly and seem to calm about having to wait.

An excellent photograph!

I was also thinking along the line of "waiting patiently". Do people generally discipline themselves to the laws of the queue? Here it's not uncommon that grown-ups are waiting in line while youngsters chit-chat among themselves outside the queue and then rush onto the bus before the queue even has started to move.

It looks so nice and orderly. A very civilized way to catch a bus. In my city people just rush onto the bus.

Interesting that everyone seems to be waiting patiently. Usually bus stops are more like a mob scene.

Of course after our Latin commenting on ABs blog I simply had to browse your blog and it is wonderful. The combination of good photography and interesting accompanying texts makes it exciting. I am sure in one of the next days I will start reading everything in the archive from day one, :-).

It had better be a big bus, or getting squashed like sardines really will bring your closer to the locals.

Lineups! It's a good thing we learn at an early age how to behave in a line because we spend a good deal of our adult lives in lines!
