K is for Kite Surfing

Kite Boarding, Surface Water Sport on the River Paraná in Rosario, Argentina
The sport of kite surfing has become very popular since its first appearance in the late 1990s. In fact, the sport has become a mainstream sport, also known as kite boarding, all over the world. Primarily the water sport is a combination of speed, power, agility and reaction. It can be seen as a cross between water skiing, skateboarding, and windsurfing. Argentina with so many climate zones and such a wide variety of terrain is heaven for outdoor sport enthusiasts and offers some great spots not only for wind and kite surfer. The surf location in the picture is to be found in Rosario along the small islands of the river Paraná.

We have had one of the rounds of the UK kite surfing championship here for the last few years on Walney Island (the west coast wind very rarely stops) but I think the lovely climate of Argentina would be more enjoyable for kite surfing.

I don't know if this is a theme day post or not, but it certainly contrasts with your city shots. Which is a good thing...it shows the diversity of your region.

I've never tried kite surfing and doubt that I ever will, but it looks like a lot of fun - if you are strong, fast, agile and can react quickly!

Beautiful photo of a beautiful spot!

I've heard it's much harder to master than it looks but ever so much fun once you're good at this sport. Nice picture!

Has our intrepid photographer tried it?

I wish I could do it. Terrible knees prevent me from even trying.

It's catching on even in Romania where people are not at all into water sports. I like to watch them when I have the chance, but it looks to me like you have to be in a really good physical condition to try it.

Beautiful to watch, and a perfect K, but not something I ever want to do! LOL!
