I is for Great Waters

Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), Main Attraction of the Iguazú Falls in Argentina
Well, actually I'm referring to the greatest waterfalls on earth which lay on the border between Argentina and Brazil. The indigenous name is Iguazú which in English means "Great Waters". Iguazú is truly one of the most spectacular natural sights on the planet. The Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat), which you see in the picture, is formed like a horseshoe. It is roughly 150 meters wide, 700 meters long, and 80 meters high. The Iguazú waterfalls are much larger than you can see on this picture. It's virtually impossible to catch this place on one photo.

I would imagine a raincoat AND a long lens would be essential here!

Beautiful waterfall!

Someday I MUST take some photos of Niagara Falls, also between two countries: the U.S. and Canada. Then we can compare notes. ;-)

I wonder if I'll ever get to see Iguazu in person. I sure hope so!

I have to admit that I never really thought about traveling to So. America...until I saw The Amazing Race and realized how beautiful that area of the world is. Someday I'll get there! And I'll be sure to visit these falls!

Iguazu is indeed spectacular. My wife and I have posted photos from Buenos Aires for the past two week son our www.VivalaVoyage.com travel photo site.

I enjoy following your blog of Buenos Aires, home to my son.

I had the chance to see the falls last year and it truly is one of the most amazing places on the planet. It's hard to describe the size and beauty of this place. It's one of those places, like Grand Canyon to give another example, that you have to see for yourself to realize how spectacular and moving it is.

Spectacular! I thought at first it was Niarara, but soon saw that it was not.

I LOVE waterfalls. The only major one I've seen is Niagara Falls, but even those smaller ones interest me. Yours is gorgeous.
