The Caminito area is a banal tourist enclave in the heart of La Boca. These three tiny little streets are separated from the surroundings by tourist police which makes it kind of strange to be there. Nonetheless, it is hugely popular with foreigners and crowded every single day. All the hustle and bustle reminds me of San Telmo's Feria on Defensa street on Sundays. You will find many touristy tchotchke shops, restaurants, and local artisans selling arts and crafts, not to mention the many tango shows.

Tourists in La Boca

I would love to browse around here for a while. But "tourist police"? Is there danger? Maybe pickpockets?
Me gusta La Boca.
Fantastico. Marcante.
Very busy place. So full of life.
To be honest I didn't visit this area on my two visits in Buenos Aires because I was told by some Argentine friends that there's not much to see there, that the area is a tourist trap and a dangerous one at that. But I saw some interesting pictures on your website that were taken in La Boca so now I don't know what to believe. In the pictures it doesn't look as dangerous as its reputation but then I know from my travels that there are areas where as a local you are fine but as a tourist you are an easy prey.
Hmmm. Every city needs a place to capture as much tourist money as possible, don't you think? ;-)
