Man Selling Candy on the Street

Man Selling Candy (Bombon) in Buenos Aires, Argentina
You can come across a lot of hard working people trying to eke out an existence by selling you anything and a lot more on the streets in Buenos Aires. The gentleman in this picture is selling candy amidst the exhaust fumes and the rumble and roar of the traffic on Avenida Nueve de Julio. So, if you get your sweet tooth while you're stuck in traffic you can buy some bombones for one peso each (about 25 cents of a US dollar). It's very hard to believe that these street vendors can make a living out of it.

Great snap of 'everyman's' life, whether the vendor or the commuter in traffic. Thanks!

A very tough way to make a living and I doubt very many of these folks do very well...but I give them a lot of credit...at least they are trying!

In Bucharest we have people selling newspapers at some intersections. It is indeed hard to believe that you can make a living out of it.

Btw, I don't know if I said this before, but I really like the way you're showing us different aspects of BA, sad as they might be. It shows BA as a real city with real people and not as a tourism slogan.

I hope he makes a bit extra to afford a face mask for the fumes.

More power to him.

These are the real hard workers. They believe in what they're doing even when most of us don't.

He has no choise. He has to do it to survive. And we have the advantage to be able to photograph him and comment on him.

I have told you before how much I like your "view" of everyday life.

I feel ashamed everytime I see such people. I can not manage to control this feeling.

I think you may have as much traffic as we do here on Long Island, NY. I really like how you have captured this scene.

Hi! I could be wrong, but I'm almost sure he's not selling candy, he's selling icecream. Bombon helado is what we call cream icecream covered in thin layer of chocolate on a wooden stick. Yummy! :D

You are probably right. I've never had one of these, shame on me. Thus I don't know what it is exactly. Thank you.

Oh, it's a nice, simple kind of ice cream. Have you ever had Magnum classic? They are kind of the same. Cream inside covered with a chocolate "shell".
Here's a pic of what it looks like.
