Estacíon Retiro - General Manuel Belgrano

Entrance Hall of Estacíon Retiro Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina
The district of Retiro is the location of the huge namesake railway station. Retiro station consists of actually three separate terminus stations. Each of the three is named after a famous military leader from the time when Argentina fought for independence. The one in the picture is named after General Manuel Belgrano who was one of the authors of the Argentine Declaration of Independence. Locals also refer to the station as Ferrovías. This is the name of the company that operates the Belgrano Norte line which leaves from here. These trains will take you to Villa Rosa in the Greater Buenos Aires area.

I would guess that this is not rush hour. Great shot.

I've never been in the station but then I've never had somewhere to go by train outside of BsAs. By the way, it's now definite that my wife and I will be in your city on Saturday 13 Feb, then three days in El Calafate, than back in Buenos Aires from Wednesday 17 Feb. until late evening on 20 Feb., when we head to the airport for a 1.00 flight home. Hope we can meet some of our Argentine colleagues. We'll be staying in Barrio Norte just west of Santa Fe.

The place looks quite large, rather clean and I'm envious of your public transportation options.

A very nice station.

Love those old railway stations with the shiny floors and beautiful iron arches - they have character.

I love trains and train station. This one looks pretty nice. I hope Argentina will reinstate long distance passenger trains between major cities - even though there's not much to see for hours at end :)

I've boarded a train only a few times. Places like this is a little intimidating to me.
