Dorrego Square in Winter

Chilly Winter Morning at the Plaza Dorrego in San Telmo in Buenos Aires, Argentina
San Telmo is covering a relatively small geographic area of Buenos Aires and the Plaza Dorrego is its focal point for tourists. Because there aren't many tourists in winter, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery freely. On this chilly morning, there were only a few locals on the square, offering odds and ends while sharing gossip and socializing.

It is easy to forget that you are experiencing winter when its 95 degrees here...but I think I would visit Dorrego Square even in the winter...kind of like what we would call a "flea market," right?

This is a terrific photo...I've been looking at it for several minutes and find the people and surroundings intriguing!

What a contrast. The square has been crushed with people when I've visited in warm weather.

I particularly like the low camera angle in this shot. It adds a lot of visual interest.

Things are all mixed up in the Southern Hemisphere. You see scenes like this in Saarbrücken in winter - stall-holders in heavy coats selling handicraft - but they are usually in a Christmas market and are clasping a cup of mulled wine.

I also tend to need a reminder of the fact that the rotation axis of the planet is tilted which gives us these very different seasons.

How chilly is chilly, in this case? We had 30C yesterday and that was by no accounts chilly.

Per, it is actually not to bad. In the morning we have around 6-12C and in the afternoon around 16-21C.

Love this pic! In gazing at it, the shivering lady in blue plucked at my memory...and it clicked! "Maria's" Buenos Aires, Sanford's Buenos Aires is YOUR Buenos Aires! (The pic of the photographers bundled up outside "Maria's" edificio was the photo in my memory.) I'm afraid in addition to your blog, I also follow the Sanford debacle quite closely, as he is our dear governor. *sigh*

I rather thought so. 6-12C in the morning probably wouldn't qualify as winter around here... ;)
