Photographic Memories from a Faded Era

Wealthy Family with unknown Whereabouts at the Turn of the Century in Buenos Aires Argentina
This picture of an old photo is from back in the days when Argentina had belonged to the six richest nations on earth. In those days Buenos Aires literally worked like a sponge, it absorbed people from all over the world. They came mostly for work and in search of a better future. This old era is long gone, and Argentina now finds itself in a totally different situation. I don't know anything about the name or ancestry of the old family in the photo. However, I would say they belonged to the upper ten thousand of the Argentine society of the late 19th century.
If anyone knows more about this family, who they are and what they did, please post a comment. I'm curious.

Absolutely fascinating photo. You would think by the expressions of the people that they were of the upper classes, knew it, and wanted everyone else to know it and pay them their "proper" due.

And there's a lesson here for countries who happen to be among the gold league these days. Things do change so don't take anything for granted.

Who knows — maybe Buenos Aires' time will come again.

I love old photographs like this: those people probably had children who had children who went on to live in another country in another time. Fascinating how the world revolves.

That was a time of distinctive classes when your status in society determined the life you lead and the lifestyle.

Out of all the things I have seen related to the Human Nature, I would give you a look at Human Behavior on a different level. Take a look at this YouTube video. I did and it brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Very regal, royal photo! Great details like the lion rug (taboo!), uniforms, dresses, mustaches, hair styles, tapestry rug, etc... I wonder what it would have been like to live in that era? Regards from EAGAN daily photo

Regardless of who they are, it's a fascinating photo. The animal's head on the carpet is a nice touch!

Beautiful portrait! It reminds me of some family photos I own, much more faded than this one.
