Rusty Iron Beams Left Over

Bare Steel Beams, Remains of a Balcony in an old Building Facade in Buenos Aires, Argentina
What has happened to the balconies of this house? Seems loose bricks and rotting concrete had finished them off. Just the bare steel beams remained. The house owner, obviously, is keeping all options open. He neither decided to tear down the steel beams nor to rebuild the balconies. Instead he installed wrought iron railings.

I'd hope those wrought iron railings are temporary, and merely awaiting the day when the owner decides to build new balconies.

Very strange-looking.

The other possibility is that someone might inadvertently step through one of the openings (doors?) and fall to the street...ergo, railings?

Good eye. Interesting photo!

Couldn't you hang BIG, beautiful flower pots from the steel beams??

Maybe the owner thinks it protects him from burglars, but in fact it makes it easier to hoist yourself up.

Must have been beautiful at one point.

I'm guessing he's cutting on cost.

A permanent temporary fix.

It possibly would be expensive to remove the beams.

I like this photo. The house is most attractive, even moreso with the beams. Possibly they are keeping the entire building erect!

I am glad you like my arches series. I enjoyed researching it ...

Cheaper, I'm sure, to install the railing. But the balconies would have been nicer!
