How to pimp a plain, boring looking elevator? Just take a paintbrush, some color and, most importantly, be creative when painting some ornaments on its doors. Well, lift decoration has become very popular over the last few years. You see these artistic works more and more often, at least in Buenos Aires. Even the advertising industry has discovered that elevator ads are one of the most innovative and unique advertising mediums today. This fancy lift door decoration, however, is no advertisement. The elevators are located in the Centro Cultural Borges and were artfully adorned with some black line drawings. Very eye-catching!
What do you think about using lift door for advertising?

That's a wonderful idea, and they've done a great job painting the elevators' doors! I always thought there's nothing uglier than elevator, now I think it just depends where you're at...
Very intersting. Are they all hand-painted or some sort of stencil.
I have not seen anything like this on lifts in the US. Our one visit to the Centro Cultural Borges was memorable. We saw a show of international press photography prize winners, full of images that were both beautiful and disturbing.
Haven't seen such adornment in the States, which doesn't mean we don't have it...
In fact, I like this. I usually feel kind of stupid standing looking at a plain old elevator door waiting for it to open!
Here I could count the number of leaves, look at the shapes, wonder what's holding the leaves together...all kinds of things!
Great shot and fascinating post!
Very nice the doors, make me remember when I went to a watch a few movies of Buster Keaton there just a few months. And about the fire, sinceraly I don`t have any idea what it is. See
The idea sounds fun. I wonder when it will cross the Atlantic.
I like the idea for art rather than advertising. I think we're flooded with enough advertising during a typical day.
Art, yes. Advertising, no!
Well, we have enough ads already. I imagine the inside of the elevator would be more attractive as a space for ads since you're stuck there for a while with little else to do than looking at them.
The first door you showed is really nice, somewhat asymmetrical. I like this.
What a fantastic idea! But I concur with B Squared: art, yes, publicity, no!
I lived for a while in Gurgaon, a suburb of New Delhi, in a high rise building, and we actually had flat screen televisions in the lifts, showing only publicity. Some days, I would have preferred taking the stairs... but then, we were living on the 23rd floor.
I like the idea of art...but advertising is already everywhere. I wish there were less of it, not more.
@bfarr
I think it's hand-painted but I cannot say it for sure.
This shot reminds me a bit of the shining.
IMHO, advertising on elevator doors only pay out when you have to wait long enough to grasp it. This is probably true in big office buildings or hi-rise apartment buildings.
